Acrylic Fiber Packing — PTFE-Impregnated Braided Packing for Pumps & Valves in Chemical, Marine & Pulp/Paper Service

Acrylic Fiber Packing manufactured by Kaxite Sealing
Acrylic Fiber Packing — interlocked braided from high-strength acrylic fiber, impregnated twice with PTFE dispersion and lubricated for long service life.

Acrylic Fiber Packing is an interlocked braided packing made from high-strength acrylic fiber that has been impregnated twice with a custom fluoropolymer (PTFE) dispersion and further lubricated with a break-in lubricant. The result is a dense, resilient and flexible packing that provides low friction, excellent sealing and good chemical resistance at an economical cost. Compared with natural and vegetable fiber packings, acrylic fiber offers better mechanical strength and chemical resistance, making it a general-purpose choice for pumps and valves in chemical, marine and pulp/paper industries.

  • Material: high-strength acrylic fiber, interlocked braided
  • Impregnation: PTFE (fluoropolymer) dispersion, applied twice
  • Lubrication: break-in lubricant — with or without oil, to your specification
  • Pressure rating: rotary pump 20 bar; reciprocating pump 100 bar; static sealing 180 bar
  • Rotary speed: up to 12 m/s
  • Temperature range: −23 °C to +232 °C
  • pH range: 2–12
  • Density: 1.45 g/cm³
  • Available sizes: 3 mm × 3 mm to 25 mm × 25 mm; custom sizes on request

What Is Acrylic Fiber Packing?

Acrylic Fiber Packing is a braided sealing element made from high-strength acrylic fiber. The fiber is interlocked braided, then impregnated twice with a custom-made fluoropolymer (PTFE) dispersion and further lubricated with a break-in lubricant. This special process ensures thorough lubrication throughout the packing, which extends service life and reduces shaft wear.

The result is a dense, resilient and flexible packing that combines low friction with good sealing and chemical resistance. Acrylic fiber has comparatively better mechanical strength and chemical resistance than natural and vegetable fibers, and unlike some synthetic packings it does not harden or become abrasive in service. It is a general-purpose packing and an economical choice for fluid handling equipment, especially in chemical plant pumps and valves, marine service, and pulp and paper mills where water, steam, acids, chemicals, solvents and oils are handled. The packing is available with or without oil; a high-elastic red silicone rubber core can be added to absorb vibration in high-speed rotating equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is acrylic fiber packing made of?
Acrylic fiber packing is interlocked braided from high-strength acrylic fiber. The fiber is impregnated twice with a custom fluoropolymer (PTFE) dispersion and further lubricated with a break-in lubricant. It is available with or without oil, and a high-elastic red silicone rubber core can be added to absorb vibration in high-speed rotating equipment.
What pressure and temperature can acrylic fiber packing handle?
The packing handles up to 20 bar in rotary pumps, up to 100 bar in reciprocating pumps, and up to 180 bar in static sealing applications. Rotary speed is up to 12 m/s. The temperature range is −23 °C to +232 °C, and the pH range is 2–12. Confirm the exact rating against your pump or valve specification and process medium.
What is the difference between acrylic fiber packing and aramid fiber packing?
Aramid fiber packing offers higher mechanical strength and better abrasion resistance, and is preferred for high-pressure, high-speed, abrasive media. Acrylic fiber packing offers good mechanical strength and chemical resistance at a lower cost, and is a general-purpose choice for chemical, marine, pulp and paper service. Choose acrylic for economy and aramid for high-severity duties.
Can you supply custom cross-sections and die-formed rings?
Yes. Standard square cross-sections range from 3 mm × 3 mm to 25 mm × 25 mm, with custom sizes available on request. We also supply die-formed rings and pre-cut lengths to your drawing. Send your size, quantity and application details and we will confirm tooling and lead time.
What are your MOQ, lead time and payment terms?
There is no minimum order quantity on standard sizes — sample and trial orders are welcome. Stock sizes ship in 7–15 days; custom braiding takes 15–25 days. Standard payment terms are 30% T/T deposit with the balance against copy of B/L, or L/C at sight for larger orders.
Do you supply material certificates?
Yes. Every batch is supplied with a material certificate covering fiber grade, braid density, PTFE impregnation weight, temperature range and pH range, plus a dimensional inspection report. Third-party inspection can be arranged on request.
