Nitrile Rubber Bonded Cork Sheet

Nitrile Rubber Bonded Cork Sheet

Model:KXT N602
Nitrile rubber bonded cork sheet (NBR cork sheet), model KXT N602, is made from natural cork granules bonded with NBR/SBR rubber. It is flexible, durable and resistant to grease, oils, fuels, gases and many chemicals. Standard 1000×1000 mm sheets, 1–10 mm thick; custom die-cutting available.

Nitrile Rubber Bonded Cork Sheet (also written NBR cork sheet, cork rubber sheet or nitrile cork gasket material; Kaxite model KXT N602) is a compression sheet produced from natural cork granules bonded with nitrile (NBR) rubber. It combines the compressibility, recovery and light weight of cork with the oil, fuel, grease and gas resistance of NBR rubber — which is why it is one of the most cost-effective sealing and vibration-damping materials for low to medium pressure joints.

It is supplied in standard 1000 × 1000 mm sheets, 1–10 mm thickness, and can be die-cut, strip-cut or laminated to your drawing. Typical end uses include flange gaskets, engine and gearbox gaskets, transformer and switchgear gaskets, pump and compressor pads, expansion joints and general industrial die-cut parts.

What Is Nitrile Rubber Bonded Cork Sheet?

Nitrile rubber bonded cork sheet is a two-phase composite material. Natural cork aggregate provides the cellular, compressible structure; the NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) binder holds the granules together and gives the sheet its resistance to petroleum-based fluids.

The material is produced in a controlled multi-stage process:

  1. Granulation — natural cork is cleaned, graded and crushed into controlled particle sizes.
  2. Compounding — cork granules are blended with NBR rubber compound, activators and fillers to a formulation matched to the end application.
  3. Moulding / Calendering — the blend is formed into blocks or continuous sheet under heat and pressure.
  4. Slicing & finishing — blocks are sliced or sheets are calendered to a thickness of 1–10 mm, then trimmed, inspected and packed.

Because the cork-to-rubber ratio can be adjusted, the finished sheet can be tuned for either higher compressibility (more cork) or higher mechanical strength and fluid resistance (more NBR). Tell us your medium, pressure and temperature and we will recommend the right formulation.

Key Performance Advantages

Sealing performance

  • Excellent compressibility and elastic recovery — conforms to imperfect or slightly damaged flange faces.
  • Effective at low bolt loads, so it suits light-duty flanges and stamped housings.
  • Low creep under sustained compression, helping to hold torque over time.

Fluid resistance

  • NBR binder resists petroleum-based oils, greases, hydraulic fluids, fuels and gases.
  • Good resistance to water and many diluted chemicals.
  • Not recommended for strong acids, ketones or ozone-rich outdoor exposure without a special grade.

Mechanical & handling

  • Lightweight, flexible and easy to cut, punch and die-cut.
  • Good anti-vibration and sound-damping behaviour.
  • Thermal and electrical insulation properties.

Commercial advantages

  • Lower cost per part than many specialist elastomer sheets.
  • Available from stock in the most common thicknesses.
  • Supplied as full sheets, strips, rolls or finished gaskets.

Typical Applications

Cork rubber sheets are specified wherever a low or medium pressure seal, a vibration barrier or an insulating spacer is required. Common applications include:

  • Automotive — engine and gearbox gaskets, oil pan gaskets, fuel pump and carburettor gaskets, baffle seals.
  • Electrical & power — transformer gaskets, switchgear and control-box seals, panel spacers.
  • General industry — low/medium pressure flange gaskets for oil, air, fuel and water lines; pump, motor and compressor mounting pads.
  • HVAC & construction — continuous footing vibration insulation, expansion joints, structural spacers, anti-vibration pads.
  • Woodworking & furniture — plywood finishing, press pads and protective spacers.
  • Footwear & consumer goods — orthopaedic insoles, cushioning and impact-absorbing inserts.

Why Buy Nitrile Rubber Bonded Cork Sheet from Kaxite?

Ningbo Kaxite Sealing Materials Co., Ltd. is a China-based manufacturer and exporter of sealing materials, serving industrial distributors, OEMs and MRO buyers for more than a decade.

  • Manufacturer, not just a trader — we control granulation, compounding, moulding, slicing and die-cutting in-house, which keeps quality consistent and lead times short.
  • Application engineering support — our technical sales team reviews your medium, pressure, temperature and flange standard before recommending a grade, so you do not over-specify or under-specify.
  • Batch traceability — incoming cork and rubber compounds are recorded, and finished sheets are checked for density, hardness, thickness and appearance before packing.
  • Third-party inspection welcome — SGS, BV, TÜV or your own nominated inspector can be arranged before shipment.
  • Export experience — regular shipments to Europe, North America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South America, with export packing and documentation handled in-house.
  • One-stop sourcing — as a full-range sealing supplier we also produce graphite sheet, non-asbestos sheet, PTFE sheet, rubber sheet, mica sheet and spiral wound gaskets, so you can consolidate orders.

Quality Control & Inspection

  • Incoming raw material check on cork granule grade and NBR compound.
  • In-process control of mixing ratio, curing temperature and sheet thickness.
  • Finished goods inspection: density, hardness (Shore A), thickness, dimensional check and visual defect screening.
  • Pre-shipment sampling and retained counter-samples for traceability.
  • Third-party test reports available on request against your specification.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between NBR cork sheet and plain cork sheet?
Plain cork sheet is bonded with natural or synthetic binders and offers good compressibility but limited resistance to oil and fuel. NBR cork sheet uses a nitrile rubber binder, so it adds resistance to petroleum-based oils, greases, fuels and gases while keeping cork's compressibility — making it suitable for engine, transformer and fuel-line sealing duties.
What temperature can nitrile rubber bonded cork sheet withstand?
The typical continuous service range for KXT N602 is −40 °C to +175 °C. Short-term excursions may be possible depending on the grade; tell us your actual cycle and we will confirm the appropriate formulation.
What thicknesses and sheet sizes do you keep in stock?
Standard sheets are 1000 × 1000 mm in thicknesses from 1 mm to 5 mm. Thicker sheets up to 10 mm and other sizes such as 1000 × 2000 mm can be produced to order.
Can you supply die-cut gaskets instead of full sheets?
Yes. We can die-cut, strip-cut or water-jet cut to your drawing or sample, with optional single-sided or double-sided adhesive backing and release liner. Send a DXF, PDF or physical sample and we will quote.
What is the MOQ and delivery time?
Standard MOQ is 500 kg, negotiable for trial orders or mixed containers. Production lead time is normally 15–25 days after order confirmation, and stock thicknesses can ship sooner.
Can I get a free sample before placing an order?
Yes. We provide free A4-size samples for evaluation; the buyer covers the courier cost, which can be deducted from the first order. Send us your thickness and application details so we can send the most suitable grade.
Is nitrile cork sheet suitable for potable water or strong chemicals?
NBR cork sheet performs well with water and many diluted chemicals, but it is not recommended for strong acids, ketones or oxidising media. For potable-water or aggressive-chemical service, please describe the medium and concentration so we can recommend a suitable alternative such as EPDM or PTFE sheet.
