PTFE adhesive tape is a skived PTFE film, etched on one side and coated with a high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive. The etched surface accepts the adhesive permanently, while the untreated PTFE face provides a low-friction, non-stick, chemically inert surface. It is supplied in rolls and die-cut pieces for cable wrapping, mechanical sealing, and electrical insulation in applications where ordinary PVC tape cannot perform.

What Is PTFE Adhesive Tape?
PTFE adhesive tape is a composite tape made from a skived PTFE film. The film is treated on one side with a sodium etching process, which changes the surface chemistry from non-stick to bondable. A pressure-sensitive adhesive — usually silicone or acrylic — is then applied to the etched side and the tape is slit to width. The result is a tape that bonds securely to metals, plastics, rubber and glass, while the exposed PTFE face retains the full properties of virgin PTFE: chemical inertness, low friction, wide temperature tolerance, and excellent dielectric strength.
Because the seal is formed by the PTFE film itself, the tape does not become brittle or tacky at temperature extremes in the way PVC or rubber tapes do. It is also unaffected by most acids, bases, solvents and fuels, making it a reliable choice for cable harnessing, mechanical packer sealing, and electrical insulation in demanding environments.

What is the difference between PTFE adhesive tape and PTFE thread seal tape?
PTFE thread seal tape is a thin, unsintered, non-adhesive tape used to seal threaded pipe joints. PTFE adhesive tape is a skived PTFE film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side, used for cable wrapping, mechanical sealing, electrical insulation and anti-stick surfaces. The two products are not interchangeable.
What is the temperature range of PTFE adhesive tape?
The standard product performs from −50 °C to +180 °C. With a silicone adhesive, short-term excursions up to +200 °C are possible. Confirm the exact limit against your process conditions with our technical team.
Which adhesive should I choose — silicone or acrylic?
Choose silicone adhesive for high-temperature service, outdoor exposure and applications requiring clean removal. Choose acrylic adhesive for general-purpose bonding at moderate temperatures and where a lower cost is acceptable. Both are available on the same etched PTFE film.
Can you supply custom widths and die-cut shapes?
Yes. We slit rolls from 10 mm to 100 mm in-house, and can die-cut circles, rings, rectangles and other shapes from the same tape. Send your drawing or dimensions and we will confirm tooling and lead time.
