Simple Packing Winder

Simple Packing Winder

Model:KXT-SPW
KXT-SPW is a compact, electrically driven packing winder that reels finished braided gland packing onto spools or discs — any packing size, without changing tooling. A simple motor turns the drive shaft while the operator guides the braided strand onto the spool; the result is a tidy, sale-ready coil that unrolls without kinking. It is the economical entry point for small packing workshops that do not need a fully automatic spooling line. Send your packing cross-section and required spool diameter for a same-week factory quote.

Simple Packing Winder for Spooling Finished Braided Gland Packing

KXT-SPW is the last step on a small packing line: after the braider finishes the strand, the **simple packing winder** reels that finished braid onto a disc or spool so it ships as a tidy, sale-ready coil that unrolls without kinking at the pump or valve. A single electric motor drives the take-up shaft, while the operator guides the packing by hand — **no tooling change between packing sizes**, and no need for a fully automatic spooling line. For the upstream braiding equipment, see Machines for Braiding Packing; for the finished product being spooled, see Braided Packing.

How the Winder Reels Packing — Three Stages

STAGE 1 Mount the Empty Spool Fix the empty spool or disc onto the take-up shaft; tighten the mandrel so the coil stays concentric while the motor turns.
STAGE 2 Feed the Finished Braid Anchor the end of the finished braided packing on the spool and start the motor; guide the strand by hand so each turn sits flush.
STAGE 3 Tie Off and Release Cut the braid at the target coil length, tie the end with a packing-safe tie, stop the motor, and slide the finished coil off the shaft.

Typical Applications of the Simple Packing Winder

Small Braided Packing WorkshopsTurn a braider's output into sale-ready spools without buying a large automatic spooler.
Repackaging OperationsBuy bulk braided packing and re-spool it into smaller coils for local resale — no tooling change between sizes.
OEM Packing BrandsProduce own-brand spools with custom spool diameter, coil length, and printed labels on the mandrel.
Stock ReconditioningRe-coil older stock that has lost its spool shape so it unrolls cleanly at the customer's pump.

Maintenance and Operating Notes

  • Keep the take-up shaft and mandrel clean and free of graphite or PTFE residue — build-up causes coil eccentricity.
  • Do not exceed the shaft's rated coil weight; if the motor struggles, stop and reduce the coil length before proceeding.
  • Guide the packing by hand along the spool; never reach toward the rotating shaft while the motor is running.
  • Inspect the spool mandrel grip before each run so the coil does not slip under motor torque.
  • Wipe down the frame and shaft after each shift; store the winder under cover when not in use.

Procurement FAQ

What exactly does the simple packing winder do?

It reels finished braided gland packing onto spools or discs after braiding. The operator guides the finished strand while an electric motor turns the take-up shaft, producing a tidy coil that unrolls without kinking when installed. For the finished material itself, see Braided Packing.

Does it work for any packing size?

Yes — the winder accepts any packing cross-section without tooling change. This is why it is popular with workshops producing multiple packing sizes on the same bench. Send your packing size range when requesting a quote so we can confirm the mandrel diameter.

Is this the braiding machine itself?

No. The simple packing winder is a downstream unit. The braider produces the finished strand; the winder only reels that strand. See the Machines for Braiding Packing category for the upstream equipment.

Can it be used for OEM-branded coils?

Yes. Custom spool diameter, coil length, and label layout are configured per order. Mention OEM branding, target spool diameter, and required coil length when you submit the inquiry form.

What is the lead time and minimum order?

One machine is a valid starting order for evaluation. Typical lead time for stock-configured units is 10–20 working days from order confirmation; custom mandrel or label arrangements are quoted with a project-specific lead time. For related tools and workshop items, see Packing Tools.
