PTFE Graduated Cylinder — Break-Resistant Virgin PTFE Measuring Cylinder for Chemical, Medical & Laboratory Use

PTFE Graduated Cylinder manufactured by Kaxite Sealing
PTFE Graduated Cylinder — made from 100% virgin PTFE, service temperature −180 °C to +200 °C, virtually unbreakable and chemically inert.

PTFE Graduated Cylinder is a measuring cylinder machined from 100 % virgin PTFE. Unlike glass or polypropylene measuring cylinders, PTFE is virtually unbreakable in normal laboratory handling, chemically inert against almost all acids, bases and solvents, and serviceable from −180 °C to +200 °C. These properties make it the preferred measuring cylinder for aggressive chemicals, trace-metal-free analysis, semiconductor wet benches, medical sample handling and educational laboratories. The cylinder can be supplied with moulded or laser-engraved graduations, in capacities from 10 mL up to 2,000 mL, or machined to your own drawing.

What Is a PTFE Graduated Cylinder?

A PTFE Graduated Cylinder is a measuring cylinder machined from a solid PTFE billet, with a moulded or laser-engraved volume scale on the outside wall. Unlike glass, PTFE will not shatter under normal laboratory handling, and unlike polypropylene or PMMA, PTFE is chemically inert against almost every acid, base, solvent and oxidising agent used in modern laboratories. This combination of inertness and mechanical toughness makes PTFE the material of choice for measuring aggressive reagents, high-purity chemicals and trace-metal-sensitive samples.

PTFE is also non-wetting and non-stick, so liquids drain completely from the cylinder wall with no residual film — an advantage when transferring expensive or hazardous reagents. The material does not absorb moisture, contains no plasticiser or leachable additive, and can be autoclaved or chemically sanitised for repeated use. Because the cylinder is machined from bar stock, it is available in standard laboratory capacities or can be produced to your own drawing with custom graduations, spouts and bases.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a PTFE graduated cylinder and a glass graduated cylinder?
Glass is transparent and cheap, but it shatters on impact and is attacked by hydrofluoric acid and hot alkalis. PTFE is virtually unbreakable, chemically inert against almost every acid, base and solvent, and serviceable from −180 °C to +200 °C. PTFE is not as optically clear as glass, so the graduation is read from the surface rather than through the liquid — but the safety and chemical-resistance advantages more than offset this for aggressive chemistry and trace-metal work.
What capacities and graduations are available?
Standard capacities are 10 mL, 25 mL, 50 mL, 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, 1,000 mL and 2,000 mL. Custom capacities are available on request. Graduations can be moulded, laser-engraved or omitted entirely (blank). We can also produce hexagonal base, round base and pouring spout configurations to your drawing.
Can the PTFE graduated cylinder be autoclaved?
Yes. PTFE is autoclavable and chemically sanitised easily, and it does not absorb moisture, so the cylinder can be reused many times. This makes it a lower long-term cost option than disposable plastic measuring cylinders in high-throughput laboratories.
Is PTFE suitable for trace-metal analysis?
Yes. Virgin PTFE contains no plasticiser and no metal additive, so it does not leach metal ions into the sample. It is one of the few materials accepted by trace-metal analysis laboratories for sample handling, along with PFA and quartz. Confirm the required cleanliness level and packaging with our technical team.
What are your MOQ, lead time and payment terms?
There is no minimum order quantity on standard sizes — sample and trial orders are welcome. Stock sizes ship in 7–15 days; custom machining takes 15–25 days. Standard payment terms are 30 % T/T deposit with the balance against copy of B/L, or L/C at sight for larger orders.
Do you supply material certificates?
Yes. Every batch is supplied with a material certificate covering PTFE resin grade, density and dimensional inspection, including capacity and graduation accuracy. Third-party inspection can be arranged on request.
