Copper Exhaust Gasket — Solid Copper Gasket with Embossed Sealing Area for Leak-Free Exhaust Manifold & Header Joints

Copper Exhaust Gasket manufactured by Kaxite Sealing
Copper Exhaust Gasket — solid copper with an embossed sealing area for a tight, leakproof seal even on irregular flange surfaces.

Copper Exhaust Gasket is a solid copper gasket with a precision embossed sealing area, designed for exhaust manifold, header and turbo flange joints on automotive, heavy equipment and marine engines. Because it is made from solid copper, the gasket will not shrink, corrode or prematurely wear out — which prevents exhaust leaks and loose header bolts, and allows the gasket to be reused after inspection. The embossed sealing bead concentrates bolt load onto a narrow contact line, so the gasket seals reliably even where the mating surfaces are not perfectly flat or have been resurfaced.

  • Material: solid copper sheet with precision embossed sealing area
  • Working pressure: 2–42 MPa
  • Temperature: retains mechanical properties at exhaust-gas temperatures
  • Key properties: leak-free sealing on irregular surfaces, will not shrink or corrode, reusable, precision die-cut
  • Standard sizes: made to OEM and custom drawings; typical thickness 0.5 mm – 3.0 mm
  • Documentation: material certificate and dimensional inspection report with each batch

What Is a Copper Exhaust Gasket?

A Copper Exhaust Gasket is a solid metal gasket stamped or die-cut from copper sheet, with an embossed sealing bead formed on one or both faces. It is used to seal the joint between an exhaust manifold and a cylinder head, between manifold sections, or between a turbocharger and the exhaust downpipe. Because exhaust-gas temperatures are high and thermal cycling is severe, a gasket must be able to hold a seal while the joint expands and contracts repeatedly — which is exactly what solid copper does well.

Unlike composite or graphite exhaust gaskets, a copper gasket does not contain a compressible filler that can blow out or degrade over time. Copper is soft enough to conform to small surface irregularities, yet strong enough to resist blow-out at exhaust pressures. It will not shrink, corrode or prematurely wear, so it does not loosen header bolts or develop leaks over the life of the engine. Because it is a single metal part with no binder, it can be inspected and, in many cases, re-used — a cost advantage for race teams, fleet operators and maintenance workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a copper exhaust gasket different from a composite exhaust gasket?
A copper exhaust gasket is a solid metal part with no compressible filler. It will not shrink, corrode or prematurely wear, so it does not blow out or degrade over time, and it can often be re-used after inspection. A composite exhaust gasket contains a binder or graphite filler that can break down under sustained high temperature or thermal cycling, eventually leading to a leak. For high-temperature, high-thermal-cycling exhaust joints — especially on performance and heavy-duty engines — solid copper is the more reliable choice.
Can a copper exhaust gasket be reused?
Yes, in many cases. Because solid copper does not contain a binder that degrades, the gasket can be inspected and, if the embossed bead is intact and the surfaces are clean and flat, re-used. This is a cost advantage for race teams, fleet operators and workshops who disassemble exhaust joints regularly. If the bead has been crushed or the surface is damaged, replace the gasket.
What pressure and temperature can a copper exhaust gasket handle?
The working pressure range is 2–42 MPa. Copper retains its mechanical properties at exhaust-gas temperatures, and it will not melt or degrade within the normal operating range of an automotive, heavy equipment or marine exhaust system. Confirm the exact thickness and grade against your manifold and turbo flange specification.
Can you supply a custom copper gasket to my drawing?
Yes. We stamp, emboss and die-cut copper gaskets to OEM drawing or to your own drawing. Send your drawing in PDF or DXF, or provide the OEM part number, and we will confirm tooling, thickness, material grade and lead time. Standard thickness is 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm, with custom thickness available on request.
What are your MOQ, lead time and payment terms?
There is no minimum order quantity on standard sizes — sample and trial orders are welcome. Stock sizes ship in 7–15 days; custom tooling and die-cutting take 15–25 days. Standard payment terms are 30% T/T deposit with the balance against copy of B/L, or L/C at sight for larger orders.
Do you supply material certificates?
Yes. Every batch is supplied with a material certificate covering copper grade, thickness and surface finish, plus a dimensional inspection report. Third-party inspection can be arranged on request.
